Why do they put paint on roads and call that bike lanes?
Drivers don’t respect painted lanes
This is bad planning
Because it’s easier and cheaper than actually protecting people.
👏 PAINT 👏 IS 👏 NOT 👏 INFRASTRUCTURE 👏
True, but there’s also just a general lack of respect. Here in Europe, these lanes are less of a problem since most drivers generally have enough decency to stay out of them.
That center yellow painted area should also be a raised curb!
To many times have I seen drivers mount the center left turn lane to pass slower traffic and get back into the right lane.
I’m not I. The US, but they do this in my city. On one major road, the bike lane also doubles as a turning lane for cars 😂
I wish my city had legit bike lanes up, but it dangerous to even walk in the street here let alone get on a bike.
In the Netherlands you do get taught in drivers ed to use a painted bikelane as a turn-lane if allowed (dashed line instead of solid line) and if safe (you aren’t running someone off their bike in the process)
The idea is that you use the car to block cyclists from unexpectedly overtaking you on the right, reducing the chances of hitting a cyclist accidentally. It forces cyclists to overtake you on the left instead.
Important to note that you are not allowed to stop in the bike lane while doing so, and that cyclists going straight have right of way over cars turning right.
It’s at a redlight, so you have to stop there 😂
dave matthews band’s bus dumped 800lbs of shit and piss into the Chicago River and all over an open top sightseeing boat full of passengers under the Kinzie Street Bridge. The icing on the shit cake he brought to town that day is that people in Chicago had to listen to him.
