I think my favorite is them calling everyone Antifa … that means “Antifacist” … cons get mad about Antifa because they are Fascists.

“It’s right there in the name: ‘national socialism’”

Much like the Democratic Republic of Korea is a democratic republic.

It’s unbelievable how little conservatives understand about history, world politics, or… well, anything really

You know, if you have to tell someone you are something, you probably aren’t. It should be evident.

Indeed, people forget that union organizers were the first ones in the concentration camps. Germany had production issues that were caused by a very organized working class. The unions had to be dismantled, so the Nazi party blamed the Jewish. I have no clue how or why it worked, and used to think maybe historians had that wrong … until now, we all see it happening in the US. We get our workers rights stripped away while the new nazi republican regime screams about immigrants.

Funny. I was called a Zionist on Lemmy because I said the kids at the festival shouldn’t have had to die.

I think most people can acknowledge that Oct 7 was bad, and also recognize the apartheid and genocide of Palestinians is bad.

I mean, some people are overzealous, but maybe there’s more context too?

Fundamentally, yeah, civilians getting caught in a conflict sucks.

It’s just that this one attack is used as justification for the vindictive massacres since, which is both wildly out of proportion and extremely unfair to the civilians not involved in the attack who, even in the most charitable reading, get killed for other people’s sins, and in a less charitable one, get killed for other people’s genocidal conviction of supremacy.

I wonder if kids in the concentration camp could hear the festival outside the prison they were born into. I wonder how many could hear or see life outside their prison as their family died from starvation, bombings, or other crimes against humanity. Of course most of them are dead now.

It isn’t wrong when someone plays a wrong note when learning how to play the piano. It isn’t wrong when a bullied kid punches back. It wasn’t wrong when a Jew beat a former camp guard to death when walking out of a liberated Nazi concentration camp. It wasn’t wrong when Hamas killed children in the attack on the festival when resisting genocide.

It’s a bad thing that the children at that festival died. In a better world Hamas wouldn’t have killed them when doing the attack, and in a better world still Hamas wouldn’t have cause for the attack. But Hamas was right for trying to resist genocide even when their judgment was poor enough that they killed kids when doing so.

In this case the bullied kid shot up the school and not just the bully.

It also is a completely different situation than someone in a concentration camp beating up their own guard.

If you think the wasn’t wrong you support terrorism and aren’t any better than the terrorists themselves or the Israeli government.

If you think the wasn’t wrong you support terrorism

Yes. That is what we’ve been talking about. Terrorism was right when the suffragettes did it, it was right when John Brown did it, it was right when the French Resistance did it, and it’s right when Hamas does it. Terrorism has a long history of being on the right side of history and of occasionally being the reason for history progressing in the right direction.

and aren’t any better than the terrorists themselves

So terrorism is at most as bad as a random keyboard warrior with bad opinions?

                or the Israeli government.

So orchestrating genocide is at most as bad as a random keyboard warrior with bad opinions?

Those kids were celebrating and dancing near starving children, they were celebrating death. It was their own hubris that killed them and the arrogance of a military too incompetent to listen to their own reports. If Gaza had settlements they would be literally dancing surrounded by starving children and it would have been just as justified.

The oppressed does not need an excuse to execute a colonizer

And the kids were colonizers and deserved to die? You sure about that? Pretty evil take here.

They were dancing and partying near the worlds biggest open air prison, within literal eyesight of oppression and death they were having fun. Almost certainly they supported the genocide and many of them (if not most of them) were soldiers.

              From Wikipedia:

The organizers switched to the site only two days before, after the original location in southern Israel did not work out.

So what? They were colonizers and reactionaries, the entire land of Palestine is occupied under military rule and if a couple of “civillians” die then thats the cost of apartheid. People should not be allowed to sleep comfortably at night when their privilege comes at the expense of some peoples basic human rights.

Maybe not them, but their kids should.

Anyway, I’m not going to have another discussion with another jihadist bot.

You don’t have to build the concentration camp if you just bomb the kids.
