“Russia condemns the USA-Israeli war against its ally Iran.”

“Russia provides intelligence on American targets to Iran.”

“Russia condemns ‘EU warmongers’ for not joining war against Iran and not attacking its ally”

Can’t make this up. Russia thinks the rest of the world is as stupid, braindead and as brainwashed as Russians and Americans.

Copy-pasta from my comment on the topic from a diff thread:

“The masks are off,” Dmitriev wrote. “U.K. and EU warmongers are showing how deeply anti-Trump they really are. They tried to hide it for a long time, but now everyone can see it.”

    State-level trolling.

At the same time, Dmitriev’s comments were widely seen as effectively encouraging additional countries to join military action against Tehran — one of Moscow’s key strategic partners.

Except it may not be contradictory in terms of goals. Russia does not want the EU to be a US vassal. Not for altruistic reasons but because it’ll be easier to restore trade with an unaligned EU. At the same time Russia might (perhaps correctly) consider that NATO cannot reopen the strait given how trivial and cheap it is for Iran to keep it closed. The longer the war lasts, the longer the strait stays closed, the more everyone needs Russian fossil fuels. And at the same time any naval assets that enter the strait are likely going down, which would diminish the naval capabilities of these actors as well as their military power projection.

It’s a statement to an audience of one: Donald Trump.

Same with Trump’s meeting with Macron and the UK. It was just to placate him.

It’s mind-boggling to think that (if we’re lucky) kids will read this in future history books, gaping at how other world leaders openly stroke the ego of the president of the United States like gullible kid. And it works, exceedingly well.

…That is, if the future isn’t a bunch of cyberpunk fiefdoms.

But… They’re supporting Iran? Why would this hold any credibility whatsoever? Brazen bullshittery, that’s what this is.

If E.U and U.K. get involved, they will spend money and resources there weakening them back at home (leaving nothing for Ukraine), and Russia will have more targets to give Iran. Overall it seems like a benefit to Russia

Can’t make this up. Russia thinks the rest of the world is as stupid, braindead and as brainwashed as Russians and Americans.

Each of these statements is directed at a different propaganda network, who will quote only one of them. The targets of these networks will never see all 3 statements, and all think that Russia is doing what they want.

Even by the diplomatic standards of Lavrov, who is usually absolutely unhinged when it comes to logic and morals, this is completely bonkers. Well done, I can’t wrap my brain around this fuckery!

They want to prolong the war as they benefit from the lack of oil exports. This is just stirring the pot to drag things out and they know they’re doing it
