NASA FIRMS satellite data detects an active fire today at the Doha West Power and Water Desalination Station in Kuwait.
Imagery shows burn marks and smoke trails across the central section of the facility, with NASA’s heat detection extending to the coastal storage tank area.
Doha West is Kuwait’s largest combined power and desalination facility: 2,400MW of power generation capacity and 110 million gallons of water per day, accounting for 38.5% of Kuwait’s entire desalination output.
Kuwait depends on desalination for 90% of its drinking water.

🇮🇶🇮🇷 IRAQIS GATHER OUTSIDE SISTANI’S HOME DEMANDING A FATWA
Crowds flood the streets outside the home of Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani in Iraq chanting “Soldiers of al-Sistani!” in a direct appeal for a religious decree to join the fight alongside Iran.
Sistani’s 2014 fatwa mobilized hundreds of thousands of Iraqis against ISIS, forming the Popular Mobilization Forces. Today’s crowds are sending the same message, answer the call.
“Iraq today is the brother of the Iranian! No negotiations! Don’t give it up!”

Context
We Shia are required to pick a Marja (scholar) to follow as our religious guide for our life affairs based on who you think is “the most knowledgeable”. Sayed Sistani is the world’s most followed Marja in the Shia community. He’s known for being politically neutral in basically every affair taking a stance against the melding of religion in politics, an alternative interpretation to Khomeini’s position which creates the Islamic Iran in the wake of the Iranian Revolution.
However Sistani has broken this streak during the rise of ISIS in Iraq, declaring a Fatwa that mobilized millions of Iraqis to fight against the Daesh threat. People are essentially demanding him to declare another Fatwa for the current crisis as a way to mobilize average Iraqis into joining the war effort against the imperialists.
He’s already provided a soft statement declaring that their is a social obligation to defend Iran a few weeks ago. However that is not a Fatwa to mobilize the masses, more so being a religious justification for aiding the anti-imperialist effort without explicitly calling to join the militant struggle.
Sistani was the student of the former largest Marja, Ayatollah Khoe, who was persecuted by Sadaam and placed under house arrest and surveillance like other Shia Ulema of the time. His hesitation is likely based on this formative experience of having to constantly keep a low profile rather then make political charged statements. It’s careful, moderate, and very averse to actions that could recieve harsh retaliation or put people implicated by potential statements in danger.
Essentially, he is likely weighing out whether a Fatwa would lead to mass unnecessary casualties of Iraqis and Shi’ites globally, or if the existential nature of the fight against Iran requires such a sacrifice.
The theological implications of the decision are that he would also be held responsible for any actions done by his followers in the sincere name of his Fatwa.
To put it in less metaphysical terms, he’s a 90 year old man who is fully aware that he will not be fighting in this war, so he’s likely calculating whether or not he has a reasonable and moral justification to say that able bodied people should put their lives on the line.

⭕️ Hezbollah reported from the field earlier this evening that its fighters, in a first, carried out a raid on an Israeli force near the Husseiniya in the border town of Maroun al-Ras, engaging with light and medium weapons, sniper fire, and direct rockets, destroying a Merkava tank and inflicting casualties.
Confrontations are ongoing on several axes in south Lebanon.
🇺🇸A comparison of the statistics of the US BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles’ launching during the war with Iran and other wars over the past 28 years, as well as the planned pace of their production in 2026.
The current war with Iran in terms of the number of these missiles used already exceeds the war with Iraq in 2003, which was previously the most intense conflict for the “Tomahawks”.
However, this is not surprising. Iran is 3.5 times larger in area than Iraq, has more powerful armed forces, and well-fortified military and industrial facilities.

Border clashes
- Heavy fighting spread across Aitaroun, Ainata, Qantara, Bayyada, Deir Siryan, Houla, Shamaa, Maroun al-Ras, and Beit Lif, including close-range engagements and ambushes targeting advancing Israeli forces. A major infiltration attempt toward Ainata was repelled with explosives and direct fire, followed by strikes on Merkava tanks and armored units. Multiple clashes resulted in destroyed tanks, with over a dozen Merkava tanks targeted, including engagements at zero distance, and forced evacuation operations under heavy fire.
Drone attacks
- Attack drones targeted key Israeli positions and assets, including Biriya air defense base, Rawiya base in the occupied Syrian Golan, and Gilaa barracks, as well as troop concentrations and armored vehicles across Bayyada, Qantara, Alma al-Shaab, Deir Siryan, and Houla. Drones also struck Hummers, D9 bulldozers, and armored units, while one Israeli armed drone was shot down over Mansouri.
Rocket/missile strikes
- Rocket barrages hit Israeli troop concentrations and positions across Malikiya, Aitaroun, Qantara, Deir Siryan, Ainata, and the Khiam axis, alongside strikes on settlements including Metula, Shtula, Yir’on, Avivim, and Nahariya. Sustained fire also targeted gatherings near schools, infrastructure points, and frontline staging areas throughout the day.
