The stupid file save window that pops up in Office infuriates me and catches me off guard every time. In their infinite wisdom, Microsoft has decided you can only enable a setting to avoid the “Backstage” for file saves executed via keyboard shortcut. Which means if you realize you accidentally saved the file with a typo in the file name or saved to the wrong folder, you have to use the “save as” menu option, which pulls up their uncanny valley file save dialog, and you have to peruse the menu and look for the “Browse” button (that isn’t displayed prominently or with any weight beyond all the other UI garbage on the page) to bring up the file system window that should have appeared in the first place. The only reason Backstage exists is to push OneDrive and Teams, and even if you never want to save files directly to those disservices, you’re stuck with this bullshit that adds another UI hiccup to a routine for which you’ve developed a lifetime of muscle memory, and makes the user experience inconsistent across Microsoft software and third party software. You already have a OneDrive link in the sidebar of file explorer, assholes. Backstage never needed to exist.

I honestly think it’s intentional complication so they can start setting it to default to OneDrive thus driving up sales. Fucking horrible.
