We are paying more for a PlayStation so that idiots can use ChatGPT to mislead people on dating apps – something is rotten in the state of gaming

Playstation has been dropping the ball hard with the PS5. Between the failures with live service games and the lack of single player experiences they used to be the best at. You also need to pay to play online with your friends. Everyone I know games on a PC now

Lots of reasons to be sure. Oversized companies with teams way too big working on massive games built on multiple frameworks using tools from several OTHER companies. The endless push for more polygons and photo realistic 3D graphics even though graphics have been good enough for years now. I feel like this world has a real problem with pushing things too far, everything has to be taken to an extreme, pushed and pushed, and then it gets broken or ruined. Every time.

Honestly though if you just walk away from all the big companies things are pretty great

Just off the top of my head, Silksong, Blue Prince, UFO 50, Animal Well, Nine Sols, Hades II. All reasonably priced and run great on aging hardware. Even if you tastefully game with larger companies, lots of amazing stuff out there that isn’t just polygons for the sake of it. The new Armored Core runs amazing on older hardware (excluding the customization garage lol)
