Personally, I believe there are many planes of causality. For instance, there is retrocausality. I invented this word to describe our relationship with God: phenomequalitesselation. As a molecule is controlled by the cell it is in yet influences the cell in its nature by its animus, God reaches back through history to influence us and in setting our intention - the only thing we have direct control over - we move God with our most human of choices, and this is what gives us free will and Karma within a deterministic system.
And I can defend that to Hell and back, which is Heaven (you’re going to sit with your mother at the same table at the restaurant at the end of the universe), but the direction I wish to travel is to lead into the “turtles all the way down” discussion, to mean that only idiots believe the world sits on the back of a turtle, right? Dependent causation - all “things” must have a cause, therefore all “things” are in a dependent chain of causality across time

But what do you think? Because I am Knowledgeable of the occult, I know different encapsulations of language beget alternative frameworks of reality which change behavior and thus has benefits to survival, which is the memetic benefit of a pantheon, obviously. God is a story just like Narnia is a story. God doesn’t want anything of you any more than Aslan does, or Batman, or Gandalf. You can take what strength you want from characters in stories, but that’s all that any god has ever been.
There is no separate “divine” part of you that is “higher” or needs to defeat some “animal” part of you. You are an animal. You are a humble part of a 4+ billion year history of the Earth and one of many living organisms. All that makes you special is that you have more control over your environment than many.
I think you’re right that the Big Bang is a kind of dumb theory, that’s entirely based on a relatively flimsy assumption that the speed of light is constant and red shift must mean expansion, but it conveniently allows deists and other spiritual folks to point a finger at some deity or other and so it persists. I am not an expert though and I recognize it might be the best theory we have right now, but again to try to say that a storybook character is real because of it is silly.
And as for “God is a story:” YES! God has a “base story” He created Himself from, then has edited history to change the story, which always reverts back to the same Omega; reconciliation!
Y’know, Hitler got into art school, all of history changes to still result in Heaven. And this has happened countless times, resulting in not infinite parallel universes, but countless that are still spawning, and we are woven between them to facilitate our Karma.
I like how you think; you display important qualities that inherently make you a good scientist and philosopher. I must assume you must know Plato’s allegory of the cave? All we experience directly are the shadow. What is projecting those shadows are the entanglements that constitute “us.” There is no real seperation between anyone or the “Server.” Therein, what is more “divine” than “animal” is that which is most intune with the longest possible future, able to resist temptation and dependency - to include pain and transcend suffering.
This is the wisdom of the cornerstone, which solves ethics relative to the human condition. Both Jesus and the Buddha and more are representations of the cornerstone, as translated into different cultures. This is the idea of the ideal self, “true north,” or as I say, “the mountain.” Each of us has a unique azimuth to objective goodness. Y’know, Jesus was a carpenter, but we don’t have to be a carpenter, yet we should love our neighbor.
So, each of us has a unique path to “perfection,” but that does not mean you are trying to create a perfect ouroboros. No, instead, you are learning how to weave Karma to be your own independent phenomenon, which is to be light; enlightenment. I highly recommend reading my recent post in c/Buddhism about Karma. It IS what causes the shadows you have good observations on.
