No expose on Flock though? Huh.
Fox News will tell you how awesome Palantir is for doing mass surveillance. Then they turn around and condemn China for mass surveillance.
I mean, going to a real city, not knowing how to drive or park there, or just generally ‘exist’ in a city… and then getting a ticket… yeah, that basically is the most enraging and embarassing experience that a Fox News viewer actually fairly often has.
They’re relating to their audience, its an intentional layer of the propoganda.
They’ve been having people on describing all the reasons Chinese cars are bad and spying on you… all American cars in the last 10 years do all the same things, they just send the data somewhere else.
They spend basically no time on Flock cameras that are all doing the same thing.
Anyone who watches Fox only watches Fox, or more extremely right wing outlets… and they obviously know that.
They’re just helping the lead addled brains in their audience come to the conclusions that they want them to come to, by speaking their language, which is that of basically a toddler that is really old, somehow.
I wish people were better at applying the same logic consistently. You would think they would be afraid to make these kinds of accusations for worry that people would make the very obvious connection to stuff they don’t want to criticize, but I guess they can be confident enough that this will not happen.
I mean, me too, but I think this is why the phrase ‘like talking to a wall’ is a thing.
(Or maybe I’m just inventing an interpretation but w/e)
When you’re in a cult, indoctrinated, something like that…
A huge part of how that works is, well, beyond framing things in such a way that things that are actually quite similar… do not seem to be…
You build in though stopping cliches.
You build in rebuttals to common criticisms, and those rebuttals often hinge on something like swapping between one definition of a word and another, conflation.
You program in ways of thinking about things that actually do just make certain kinds of thoughts damn close to actually unthinkable, unless somebody that doesn’t have the same framing as you do kindly explain itnto you.
Then you build a whole culture around this, and around never questioning certain things, around curiosity being potentially dangerous, about maligning (indirectly or directly) people who pursue knowledge and experimentation.
I had to deconvert myself outta that kinda bullshit.
It ain’t easy, in your own mind and life, and with most of the people around you shaming and punishing you for it.
Random Chinese motorist, this is your big chance.
