Next week will probably be the hottest one ever recorded here. I was born in the best time to experience multiple weather records being broken at a frightingly increasing pace.

it has finally finally hit for me that the median politics/quality of discussion and critical thinking on every mainstream social media is so so atrocious that there’s basically no use in any situation for me to use it if i still want normal heart functions. even in the realm of hobbies or shows i like everyone’s just so infuriating… never use reddit

Sometimes you just have to go back to realize why you left in the first place. I’m glad you learned your lesson.

and the revelation that holy shit, this year or so period of me being completely clean has had no instances of my heart rate rising so high i have to pace around and hyperventilate has been so much better than me helplessly trying to curate a feed because the site literally detests that very notion is a bit silly on its face but it’s so true

someone else also said the very clear part about curation being an overt part of the user and moderator experience here on lemmygrad, and that it is so beneficial politically. but yeah. god this place is a safe haven on an internet of utter shite

remembering that mainstream anglosphere internet is corroded to the bone and politically inept/illiterate 🧘 especially as reddit pushes me front page posts about how Fukt Rusha Is Becoz Of These New Pics

We have a very large Jewish community in our city. Yesterday I sat in a park in their neighborhood and found myself sitting besides some Israeli jews visiting family I guess. The way they were talking about Israel as if they were going back to some lush and cozy country was absolutely shocking. Like, you are actively commiting a genocide man.

I hope my Celtic jersey at least made them somewhat uncomfortable.

LLMs are a funny thing, cause the “smarter” they get, the better they get at sounding smart, even if what they’re saying is disjointed and poorly explained. Sometimes I have moments with code assistance where I’m like, “Am I not following this because what they’re saying is beyond my skill level or because they’re full of shit?” Lol.

I’m sure it can be either because I have had moments where I knew enough to tell that the LLM dramatically overthought the problem and missed something simple.

Sometimes I just take what the LLM spits out and put it through in a blank convo to make it check itself without any of the previous context.

Living in a tourist destination this far north is a drag because we only get like 2 months a year of good weather but it DOES fuckin rule once it’s actually summer. Hitting the trails on my new bike w/ iNaturalist is basically all I have left to keep me sane while not at my shitty job besides weightlifting now that the MtG well has been poisoned. I NEED to take time off to go camping this summer. Yesterday I stood in a river. :3

Apparently much warmer days result in lots of thunderstorms over here. Haven’t seen as much thunder as the last two weeks. Nearly every night it’s a thunderstorm. Yesterday was the heaviest ever recorded. Felt like a constant barrage of lightning. At least some cool aspect of climate change because it was beautiful.

The US doing flyovers with helicopters during their match at the WC last night is so funny considering they just got their ass kicked in Iran.

What’s even funnier (or sad) is people commenting how Seattle wasn’t worthy of jets instead. Like, my guys it is a sporting event why are there military vehicles showing off anyway? If the DPRK did that the media would have a field day with how pathetic it is.

I always find it strange how Dutch nationalists clam to Christianity. Christianity itself was imported to these lands. Why not do proper paganism instead? All hail Nehalennia.

how it feels being more antitheist than usual (but like even then you’re just a normal person who believes we’ll outgrow those archaic beliefs with societal progress) but then everyone else (well, if they’re not an ML) gets really really mad when you say this

Same been collecting propaganda since I became aware of it (mostly digitally of course), grew up with an otherwise unavailable US WWII poster on my living room wall for some reason. It doesn’t even advertise anything other than revering the intellectual apparatus for national security purposes. The rest of the series turned out to be the same. One is just “stockpiling 😎” idk who it was for

It’s nice to have some Good Propaganda I mean. Looks real nice

there’s also a really good soviet propaganda poster with a simple painting of the earth backdropped against the cosmos, and then a crude crayon house around it saying “there is no other home” and it makes me so sentimental.

good propaganda like that is amazing. i think about what it meant and how pro-social it was, and i’m happy, and then i think about how the ussr collapsed and vultures picked at the carcass and that one clip of kids confessing to prostitution for scarce money and i get a bit queasy

A 15 year old in The Netherlands killed their parents. Tragic situation, of course. Only now people from their school talk about them struggling with identity, claiming they wanted to switch genders and later identifying as a dog.

So now this tragic situation becomes a right wing thing to demonize Trans people (even though there is no confirmation of this person actually being trans)

I “like” how, from what i can tell, the memo linked here basically explicitly says Blair and Bush lied about Iraq and knew it from the outset, and we’re willing to do a false flag attack to attack Iraq.

Ignoring everything else, all of capitalism problems, all of the other problems with Afghanistan and both Bush and Blair, this is just bad by Bourgeois law standards. Like, it’d be extraordinary, but blair might technically be able to be prosecuted for misconduct in public office. Idk, I feel like if a pm did that [they wouldnt. Also idk how the crown prosecution service works im that regard] he might be the most popular prime minister in decades. At the very least both probably could have been impeached/held in contempt [for their respective systems]. And before anyone says anything, yes i know Bourgeois laws are a sham and such. My point is kinda just a disbelief that there’s basically just a confession sitting in classified files somewhere in the UK
