Okay let’s post this in the right place.

My local club is hosting a field day event and I’m going for the first time in a few years. I got into ham radio specifically to meet people, but transportation can be hard, so I often can’t attend things like hamfests or club meetings.

I might try making some CW contacts.

I recently moved and there’s a ham club (mmmmm ham club) in town that I want to check out.

They’re having a field day that I plan on attending and meeting the locals.

    Very exciting!

Which field day are we talking about? There’s amateur radio activity across the planet and events pretty much every day.

Edit: Not everyone hears my voice in my head and my reply didn’t convey the smile in my words.

There are a couple clubs in/near my city. I’m planning to stop by one with the family after we do some errands, hear about what folks are doing, see if my kid wants to try making a contact. Also I may see what folks have to say about antenna placement.

I’ve been wanting to do a fox hunt and some clubs have set that up at field day I think.

Are swap meets often part of field day? I’m on the lookout for an SWR meter and/or external tuner, so I may watch out for that.
