The original fascists would come at your house, beat you up and then pour a bottle of oil into your mouth or kill you. They hated you and that was why they killed you. They knew it was completely unjustified; in fact, they were even proud of it.

The modern fascists proclaim peace and order. They will put you in a system where you die and watch comfortably from their attics. They will shed a fake tear for your death. If you fight back, they will call you a criminal, and use you as an excuse to kill your kind.

The appearances changed, but they are the same villains they’ve always been.

In mark 7 and mat 15, Jesus calls the pharisees hypocrites for not stoning unruly children.

So this is actually totally on brand.

      (It’s the same story.)

From what I understand of this, Christ is mostly calling out people using the idea of “nope that’s an offering to God” as a reason for not using their money or other material wealth (or labor) to help their parents, not necessarily “unruly children”. The specific text in Mark, at least, calls out the Pharisees for saying that if a thing was devoted to God, it was permissible to bypass commandments if that devotion required it.

As I understand, much like a lot of temple priests in the ancient world, the Pharisees took a cut of offerings to the temple, so you might say they had a vested interest in making sure people kept devoting offerings, especially financial offerings.

And to do it, he cited 2 laws. “Honor your father and mother” and the other “if your kid is unruly/doesn’t listen to you, take him before the elders and stone them.”

Yes, the example he gives of them violating it is “taking what was set aside and calling it an offering”

He’s still using a law that’s about stoning unruly children as a gotcha against the Pharisees. And he’s using that law about stoning unruly children because he agrees with it.

Don’t have to take my word for it, either. Jesus was pretty explicit in mat5:17-20.

    Republicans… The “party of life”.

They don’t give a flying fuck about “life” once that fetus is born. The more uneducated and poor the better. Just more slaves to capitalism who will vote against their own self interests under the guise of freedom, religious belief or money. This is just a perpetual system of constant degredation and inequality that will only get worse as it goes on and on.

    Idiocracy 101.

They don’t give a fuck about the fetus either. They just can’t stand the thought of a woman making a decision. They’re fine with abortion if it’s a man forcing it on a woman.

We’re making literal orphan crushing machines at this point. Something that we of course have always been against in the future.

Who was it that said “blessed are the children, for they shall inherit the kingdom of Heaven”?

Edit: Apologies, the Bible doesn’t actually mention the above phrase.

Close! You’re confusing Luke 18:15-17 for one of the Beatitudes.

"15 One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him.

16 Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. 17 I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”"

I chose Matthew’s telling, and a bit more of it:

13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

      N- no one, I don’t think?

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

It clearly doesn’t mention critically ill undocumented children, so that’s that.
