I had that. I was very close to losing my arm, but I was lucky enough to get to a hospital quickly, and I ended up being there for 3 weeks, with 5 full surgeries under anstesia to remove infected tissue.

I’m telling you this to be aware of the signs. It started with minor pain when I put my elbow down on the table. This happened in the evening. The next morning there were some redness on the skin but I went to work. I visited a doctor who concluded there was an infection and recommending antibiotics. By the afternoon there was swelling and I was in quite a bit of pain so I went to the emergency. By the time I got there I could barely hold the pen when I signed my name on the form.

If you ever have a rapidly increasing infection, go to the hospital right away. Waiting a day could mean losing a limb.

Because what you have to look out for is the OCEAN during a deadly heat wave! /s

News media will find any excuse to not treat global warming as our number one threat.

The article says in literally the first sentence that climate change is responsible for the spread of these bacteria.
