This actually reminds me of the plot of Command & Conquer: Red Alert III,
Colonel Anatoly Cherdenko (Tim Curry) about to be overrun by the enemy, uses a time machine to travel to 1927 Brussels to kill Einstein. When he comes back to the present, he’s the Premier of the USSR which is winning the war against the Allies… right when the Empire of the Rising Sun (Japan) declares war and attacks.
Japan isn’t necessarily Muslim, but they are a technological powerhouse of their own accord.
