Get ready for the experience of traveling, needing a shit and then realizing there won’t be a bidet.
Vacations are so much less enjoyable now. Like it shouldn’t ruin my whole experience, but it kinda does.
Go to Japan, ig?
as an arab you couldn’t imagine my shock when i travelled abroad and experienced the joy of hemorrhoids for the first time lol
They say travel reveals new sides of your self.
I spend a lot of time working away from the office at sites.
I have a bidet at home and specifically save my shits for when I get home.
My ass just dosnt feel properly clean these days if I have to shit like a commoner.
You can use a portable bidet. It’s not as good as a mounted one but still.
Shouldn’t that outlet, be a GFI outlet? Literally to uh, save your ass.
Most likely behind a GFCI outlet. Usually, its the one closest to the door and everything else daisy chains off of it.
Maybe even outlets in other rooms! That’s really fun when a random outlet stops working
I know of a house that has the upstairs bathroom daisychained off of the downstairs kitchen. They are not above/below each other.
I’ll never understand why that much wire routing is worth a $20 GFCI.
It could be connected in line with a GFCI outlet or breaker.
You guys don’t do GFCI everywhere?
In the U.S., no. Federal code only requires GFCI in certain areas like kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry rooms, basement, etc. State and local governments can amend the federal code if they want; a common amendment is to make GFCI only required in unfinished areas of basements instead of the entire basement. Some places may even have more strict codes than the federal code. There are also some electricians that voluntarily only install GFCI breakers (my brother’s company does this), but it’s not required.
Where are you that they do that? Under water? Lol
Europe, we call it RCCB and it’s in the electrical distribution board on all circuits. GFCI isn’t only useful in wet conditions, it protects you everywhere where there is the possibility of a circuit between a live wire and the ground with you in the middle.
Although it’s an absolute pain in the arse in certain scenarios. Surge protectors essentially present as a leak to earth any time they do their job, so my mandatory RCCBs on every circuit turn minor mains fluctuations into permanent outages.
I really need to see if I can legally run one circuit that isn’t RCD protected for my homelab…
Put the surge protector before your RCD?
You understand that the RCD is (mandatorily) in the electrical distribution panel where it hands off to the utility supply right?
I don’t know all the details. Are you sure you’re literally not allowed to place anything before the RCD? Technically SPD then RCD makes the most sense to me, so it seems strange to me that it wouldn’t be allowed, but I couldn’t find any clear answer.
100% correct, code violation and that person is asking for trouble.
Not every outlet in the room needs to be a GFCI.
in fact, some places specifically forbid chaining GFCI outlets
Confused congrats from Germany.
Is that really what you call a bidet? Because our bidets here are unrelated to the toilet and that’s a Japanese toilet. The bidet is the one for washing https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bidet.
The Japanese toilet uses wash sprayers to act like a bidet. Takes up less room. For some reason, Americans like dirty asses.
I know bidets and Japanese toilets but the image shown is the latter and not a bidet that’s why I’m curious if that definition is a US thing or something, I like learning.
The image shown most definitely contains a bidet.
It’s a washlet bidet, which attaches either underneath the toilet seat or as part of the toilet seat itself, and usually has controls that jut out to the right of the seat(to the right from the perspective of the seated person).
The toilet in this picture has a washlet bidet installed.
This is separate from the kind of bidets that are installed separately from the toilet, as is common in many other countries.
I think removing the need to move the dirty bottom from one hole to another is a key innovation.
Interesting, thanks!
Dual purpose. He added bidet functionality.
99% of Americans have dirty assholes, because they are dirty assholes.
You are what you eat.
Sensitive American with a dirty asshole detected
Some people clutch pearls, others clench dingleberries.
I couldn’t live without one.
It’s so much cleaner and you save so much money and it has other uses too.
What other uses? Lol
😏
For those who hesitate making the investment, portable squirt bottles for this purpose are available for less than $25.
Vietnam has a good way of doing it. You just tee in one of those kitchen sink sprayer heads to the water supply. You could even tee it off from the bathroom sink warm water.
Looks like the spray heads are $11-15, plus a hose and a tee fitting.
India too. Lots of Asia went this route. “bum gun” where I’ve been. It was a real blessing when I got food poisoning.
Same goes for Thailand, definitely a good cheap option if you got the angle right. Messy otherwise. Always do a pressure check into the bowl if it’s a public toilet…

The bidets I buy install on the toilet and cost about the same.
I once heard the phrase “a water fountain for your butthole” and hear it every time I see one.
This is a bidet though

A toilet attachment is still a kind of bidet.
I saw this Pic and my first thought was “I miss Japan…”
I’m so jealous.
I see another fan of …the bidet sketch.
Isn’t having an electric socket right next to active water system is dangerous?
Also thanks for having a clean bum. Bidets should be mandatory.
It must be a GFCI outlet. Ironically many bidets also have their own GFCI plug too lol
I have a similar one right next to my bidet. There’s no way I’m going back there. It even has a fan, ya hear me? A fan!
I wish I could get one. The lease for my apartment specifically says no installing bidets unfortunately
How would they find out?
They come in to the apartment like 4 times a year maybe for alarm / leak checks. Guess I could just uninstall it every time
Mine like the one pictured would be uninstallable on demand , but a massive pain in the ass. I’d probably install it and see if they bring it up. Sort of depends on the landlord and how desperate you are to stay there. IMO knowing nothing of your situation its worth it.
Be warned all other non bidet bathrooms will now be unpleasant.
addon to toilets.
That is a fancy one! And a heated seat is amazing in the wintertime!
