The term “collaborative robots” or “cobots” conjures images of a humanoid robot working as part of the team.
Instead it sounds like they have a waldo with a camera on the end that is using Gen AI to look for faults.
They fired the staff because no one wants their shitty cars.
Cobots aren’t new at all and you’re right, its probably just a normal-looking robot arm with a machine vision system stuck on

The tech is probably a LOT simpler than that. Cobots have been a thing for a while. Plus Gen AI wouldn’t be useful in them.
This is 100% because no one wants to buy their shitty cars. The dealership near me hasn’t moved inventory in ages.
You guys do know that other countries are running dark factories right? No humans on the production floors, lights don’t even need to be on, that’s the kind of thing we’re up against. Should also mention that it’s not AI, this is just base automation.

This particular factory was built after eminent domain was used to destroy the neighborhood to make room for it, the lack of responsibility to the community goes deep.
