The far-reaching order does not include a moratorium on data center development. However, it requires local approvals to receive state permits, which in effect may block many from moving forward.

    You can tell everyone who has their eye on the White House in 2028, based on who is getting on board with this.

    Abbott in Texas, Shapiro in Pennsylvania, DeSantis in Florida, Beshear in Kentucky, Hochul in NY. I’m amazed AOC hasn’t brought a data center bill up through her House committee, yet.

      I think the difference is that AOC is already pretty transparent in her views. She doesn’t need to push an AI bill because she’s already known to be critical of it. I don’t think any extra legislative moves would improve her standing.

    Wow, Shapiro was literally giving tax breaks to data centers as recently as last year.

    How many data centres are there already? Are they just closing the gate after the horse has already bolted?
