i dont think this is nsfw per se but just to be safe
also shamelessly plugging in !undertale_deltarune@lemmy.world and !deltarune@sopuli.xyz
I think it’s nice to be (small-l) liberal with the definition of “NSFW”. It’s nice (and occasionally genuinely helpful) to be able to use social media at work, and defining “NSFW” as “anything I wouldn’t want to have to explain to my possibly-shitty boss” is better than “it’s only NSFW if it’s actually porn” or whatever. I appreciate it anyway.
it’s not nice when you hide nsfw because you want to avoid porn and end up mostly hiding perfectly fine stuff
which is why nsfw is a spectrum, not a binary. Not that anyone around here would have experience with that kind of argument, right?
(yes, this is 196, everyone here knows the struggle of explaining that something is a spectrum not a binary)
I think it would be useful to have finer-grained content tagging. But I’d take being able to skim social media at work but miss stuff over having, for example, this comic on my screen as my boss walks by. It’s not a judgement of the content, just sympathy for people who have to work in a shitty environment but still want to connect with people.
I think it would be an interesting experiment to try having a specific
porntag, and see how the internet handles this famously-hard-to-pin-down concept.
