I figured the whole point was to keep the strait closed so long the global economy rerouted essentially killing Irans biggest leverage. The longer this goes the less relevant the strait becomes to global economics. Also give a decent bump to Venezuelan oil the US now controls.
The article makes no sense. It talks about a route from China to Britain through the arctic but that has nothing to do with the Strait of Hormuz. The author, probably AI, has it confused with the Bab-el-Mandeb of the Red Sea which gets you to the Suez Canal.
Going through the arctic can’t get your ships into Iran.

Additional disruptions caused by continued Houthi threats to the Bab al-Mandab Strait into the Red Sea have subsequently disrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Like they mention this part and get the first part right (and I thought, well the SoH issue has extended to the Red Sea and that disrupted trade through the Suez), but then they continue to talk as if the Red Sea is part of the SoH.
So either a very basic fact that AI got wrong or the writer (and I say writer not journalist) has no clue about world geography.
