Worf was primary tactical officer, and the Chief of Security on the D. But he was mostly there to prove how veritable a threat the current enemy was because Worf spent a lot of time getting casually thrown around.
Worf had such a storied career. From Chief Security Officer on the Enterprise to… um…
(I may have missed a few episodes.)
He was Strategic Operations Officer for the station and occasionally piloted the Defiant.
Then there’s whatever he did once he captained the Enterprise E.
Occasionally commanded the Defiant. Including the only time it engaged the Borg (it’s original intended purpose).
He wasn’t just the pilot, he was the first officer like Kira was on the station. So he was in command of the Defiant when Sisko wasn’t there.
Canonically this is why Sisko wasn’t there in First Contact and Worf was in command. Sisko was off in the badlands with Eddington during that time.
Per Julian, he reads a lot of fascinating security reports which he then can’t talk about with anyone because they’re classified.
I can see Worf pounding the table and shouting “Your security isn’t worth a damn!”
