The Left really needs to acknowledge the very real antisemitism problems in Islam, as well as the very problematic views regarding women’s and LGBTQ-rights. Just because Muslims are in a minority (although depending on the city and and certain districts, that’s not the case anymore) doesn’t make them immune to being bad persons. It’s funny how the Left are the first to point out those same problematic views in right wing extremists (and rightfully so) but turn a blind a eye when Islamists have those very same views as well. It’s ignoring those problems as to why the far-right is on the rise in Europe. Since 2015 we have to deal with a massive influx of refugees from Arab countries, and sure, a lot of them behave and don’t cause any problems whatsoever, but there are still enough problemmakers among those refugees to make this as an issue that needs to be addressed and dealt with in a proper manner. Most people who now vote for the far-right parties in Europe just wanted orderly and regulated migration polcies that on one side offered refugees ways to integrate themselves, but on the other also dealt strictly with the troublemakers and deported them again.

And if u are from the US and now want to lecture me, just don’t. You in the US just don’t know the problems the EU is facing, and the immigration you have from Mexico and South/Central America is simply not comparable.

Problem is, you are mixing religion and culture here. I have friends from Lebanon, not religious at all, and they still hate jews. This problem will not be solved by removing religion. The roots are even deeper than that. I don’t have any solution nor explanation by the way.

I wonder why people in Lebanon would hate “jews” for non-religious reasons

There is probably no way to ever figure out an explanation or solution for that. It must just be culturally Lebanese to “hate jews” and that’s all there is to it.

Unfortunately I have heard some of the shit that muslim immigrant parents tell their kids. And it’s not only about Jews either. I have a 2nd gen Iranian friend who constantly heard growing up that Kurds were scourge of the earth and are responsible for everything wrong with Iran. Now that friend of mine was intelligent enough to reject that racism later in life but you can imagine that growing up and constantly hear your parents going on and on about how horrible Jews, Kurds or whatever group are, is gonna leave a strong impact. I hear how Jewish children in Stockholm fear for their life daily going to school now while a few decades ago they didn’t need to. Some live in a reality where security follow them to and from school to make sure they are not attacked for being Jews. Lots of Swedish Jews have moved to Israel in recent years with their main motivation being safety. It breaks my heart how Europe has once again become unsafe for Jews. But this time it’s not because of the natives.

It breaks my heart how Europe has once again become unsafe for Jews.

These two statements are not the same. The first is feeling unsafe, the second is that it is unsafe.

I have no doubt about the first one, Jewish children probably don’t feel safe. However I call into question your latter statement, and also question how much influence Israeli media has on making Jewish people feel unsafe outside of Israel.

Even with the OP story, they burned 4 private ambulances in a car park. It wasn’t attacking people, it was an attack against a business. That’s more like a protest than an assault on someone’s safety.

They’re not the ones destroying ambulances with people inside. They’re not the ones exploding pagers. They’re not the ones infiltrating the latest iPhones. Israel makes people all over the world feel unsafe.

It’s incredible that you are doubting that Jews are unsafe in Europe. Just search on the web for antisemitic attacks against Jews in Europe and you will find lots of news worse than this specific one in the OP. I would specifically recommend reading interviews with Jewish leaders telling about the hate crimes that they experience on a near daily basis. If you want one specific event that actually threatened human life then I can link you to the 2017 Gothenburg Synagogue attack where Palestinians and syrians threw firebombs at a Synagogue where Jewish youth were currently having a youth event.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Gothenburg_Synagogue_attack?wprov=sfla1

And when it comes to Israel we are on the same side here. Isteal is horrible. Isreal is a good explanation for why Muslims in Europe are antisemitic. But it’s an explanation, not a good justification. I don’t doubt that some of the 9/11 survivors turned out to become great haters of Muslims after the attack. That’s a good explanation, but not a good justification for hatred.

Minorities in general are less safe but for weird reason some people in the west pretend that only one form of racism is more important than other. You can do Islamophobia all days and nothing will happen to you but can be antigenocide and get your life ruined for it

I want Jews to feel safe in Europe, but I think we need to stop and think a little bit before we målar fan på väggen. Let’s use some actual data. According to the Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry in Tel Aviv:

Our data for 2025 points to worrying trends. The year witnessed 20 casualties killed in four antisemitic attacks in three countries. This is the highest number of casualties in one year for over three decades.

Despite the name of the publisher, this figure signifies the number of Jews in the global diaspora killed in in 2025. Of course, 15 of those were the Bondi Beach massacre in Australia. So let’s do some quick maffs to put this into context. There are approximately 8.5 million Jews outside of Israel, and in the worst year for Jews in at least 3 decades, the incidence of violence with a fatal outcome was 0.23 per 100,000 people. The homicide rate globally approximately 6 (six) per 100,000, which is about 25 (twenty-five) times higher. For comparison, the homicide rate in Israel is 3.718, and in Sweden it is 0.867.

Now, homicide is not exactly the same as terror killings, not only because the motives differ but because the relationship between perpetrator and victim differ.

So let’s be fair. Let’s use Jewish Israeli victims of terror, specifically Palestinian terror, since 2000. We’re excluding some major incidents, most notably the October 7, 2023 attacks. Here’s the list, tallying 1,529 Jewish victims of terror up until March 2026.

That’s an average of 60 deaths per year, every year, for 26 years. I’m counting 22 victims of Palestinian terror in Israel in 2025 alone. Same figure for Sweden for 2025 was 0 by the way.

Long story short, Israel is much more unsafe for Jews than Europe is.

We should keep that in mind when we talk about how European Jews flee to Israel on account of them feeling unsafe. Because it is not only completely bonkers, it is also part of an Israeli Zionist agenda. They are being fed propaganda because it fits the agenda of a colonialist, apartheid state that is committing a genocide. Do not play into their hands.

A small number of events does not mean they are unsafe. Your example resulted in no deaths nor injuries and occurred 9 years ago.

I would agree that antisemitism is on the rise and attacks such as these are becoming slightly more common, as well as more day to day confrontations, but I don’t think it’s significant enough to say “Europe is unsafe for Jews”. It is concerning, and needs to be monitored, but by and large the region is not unsafe.

How do you define safe? The Jewish student union at Vienna university needs police guards every time they have a get together since they have received so many threats. Police guarding when they have a movie night. That is absolutely insane. With the police guards they are quite safe yes. But if the environment they live in requires them to take precautions like this, is that environment really safe?

If you have to hide your Jewish identity when you are out and about in public to be safe. Is your environment really safe? If you have to inform the police anytime you have even a private Jewish community event to be safe? Is your environment really a safe one? I would argue no, if you have to go to these lengths for your safety you are not in a safe location. Arguing otherwise would be like saying a certain location is safe for women because despite there being full of rapists on the streets at night the women can simply stay inside at night or be escorted by a man. That’s not true safety.

Having police or security is different to needing them.

You say they need police “every time”, and yet the event you seem to be referring to was a one off screening of the Eurovision final. Israel’s participation in Eurovision has been highly controversial in recent years, so having a showing openly in support of them is of course going to be controversial as well. Not that the threats were warranted, but they should have been expected and they refused to take any measures themselves to address the risk they courted, hence the university following their duty of care and requiring additional security from the police.

I imagine most Jewish people in Europe feel about the same as most Russians in Europe feel about their cultural identity. Tolerated to an extent, but held under suspicion when expressed, due to a potential allegiance with a violent state. I imagine they feel like many Germans felt in the 1950s onwards.

While the horrible genocidal actions of Israel certainly put gasoline on the fire, antisemitism has been common among muslims even before modern Israel or even the Zionist ideology was founded. It’s right there in the Quran. Among many Quran quotes here is one:

Quran 5:82 “Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters.”

There is a reason almost the entirety of the native Jews of pretty much every middle eastern country fled to Israel. Being a Jew in the middle east was a constant hardship.

But that’s even beside the points. It’s always wrong to hate a group as a whole. If someone says they hate muslims because some muslims are terrorists. That’s just as wrong as hating Jews because some Jews support Israels genocidal actions.

Now cite the amalek verse from the torah. Why palestinians accepted Yemeni Jews who migrate to Palestine if those evil Muslims and Arab wanted to exterminate them? Why, Zionists decided to build a state on land of the supposed antisemites?

Quran is not a series of independent commandments. All of it has context. 5:82 was about jews who allied with the polytheists against muslims, they signed a contract and then broke it.

No islamic scholar worth their salt says jews are evil or hostile in and of themselves, rather it is always in context of their actions.

Same surah in ayat 48 says jews and christians were given different scriptures and muslims should compete with them in good deeds.

2:62 says there are righteous believers among jews and christians and they will have their rewards.

60:8 says Muslims must act kindly and justly towards those who do not fight them because of their faith (including jews christians)

The same ayat that you referenced 5:82 praises christians because before this ayat was revealed, a group of christian came, read quran and accepted islam.

I like that you generalize Muslims based off your interpretations of their religious book (because we all know religious books love to put in a lot of contradictory shit), and then say how it’s always wrong to hate a group as a whole.

(Also worth noting how many Quranic verses actually talk positively of Jews and Christians, but that doesn’t fit your predisposed opinion on middle eastern social dynamics).

This is after the fact that you’ve thrown a bunch of dog whistles in your first comment regarding “natives” of Europe.

So excuse me if I disregard your opinion.

Quran 5:82 “Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters.”

I’m not saying that there aren’t any negative writing about the jews in the Quran. But this passage is saying that believers of the truth(Islam) are hated most by the Jews and the pagans.

There is a reason almost the entirety of the native Jews of pretty much every middle eastern country fled to Israel. Being a Jew in the middle east was a constant hardship.

Jews and Muslims had cohabitated the region in relative peace since the 7th century under the dhimmi system . Up until 1948 nearly a million Jews lived integrated lives across the Arab world in peace. Arab nationalism didn’t really exist as a cohesive construct until the establishment of the Israeli state.

That’s just as wrong as hating Jews because some Jews support Israels genocidal actions.

Right, but the Israeli state is the main actor conflating the state with the people.

Is the reason because Israel funded and promoted antisemitism so they could play the card of being the only safe place for Jewish people?
