Frankly I like this for the 1910 vintage label recursion. Talc bottle label shows child holding the same talc bottle showing the same label of a child holding the same talc bottle with the same label…
There must be other examples of this in ads, but I don’t remember ever seeing one before.
This is called the Droste effect because of Droste cocoa, introduced in 1904.

Ah, so I take it back then. I have seen recursion on other packaging. Just never noticed it.
The packaging of land of lakes was often so small, I wouldn’t have thought of it if it wasn’t listed as an example!
It also listed Laughing Cow cheese. The cow’s earrings are little laughing cow cheeses!
