In response to 2: this is true but remedy entertainment (who made control) also made Max Payne 1 and 2 which I never really had any interest in. And I actually have the vr horizon game and get sad when I hear the main character speak.
Max Payne 1/2 actually were allowing the male actor to express some emotions, which is my main gripe with male VAs in games. Publishers seem to be scared - instead of allowing male VAs to express emotions, they make them as flat as possible to allow them to be an self-insert.
If you want to have a male MC with VA, give him some options! Not everyone wants their male MCs to be so bland that they are irrelevant, and not everyone wants any MC to be an self-insert. Most game MCs i have an attachment to are the ones that actually have an opinion, who have values that might not be my own but which i can relate to. Every studio stunting the emotional expression of their characters is stunting the potential of their games.
These two specifically, in my case.
Jesse is absolutely awesome :-)
I’m more than a little pissed off that Dylan is the main character in control resonant. I was hoping it would be Jesse again. Perkele!
I mean, 1 - both are badass, who doesn’t like to play as a badass person?
2 - neither game lets you choose a male character.
3 - see 1
