Ansarollah (“Houthi”) leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi says his forces are acting defensively in the latest round of conflict in Yemen, accusing Saudi Arabia of initiating the escalation.
In an address, al-Houthi said Ansarollah (“Houthi”) forces are targeting Saudi military sites and oil infrastructure while acting according to what he described as Islamic and ethical principles.
He accused Saudi-led forces of carrying out indiscriminate attacks in Yemen during the more than decade-long conflict, including strikes on homes and marketplaces. Al-Houthi also condemned what he called a “siege” restricting the import of food and medicine into Yemen.
He rejected claims that Ansarollah (“Houthi”) forces targeted Mecca, describing the allegation as false, and said his people were defending themselves.
AnsarUllah, AnsarOllah, or AnsarAllah ?
Western search are one big propaganda bubble, so I don’t know which site-urls and terms are US propaganda or legit local/revolutionary urls/words. It seems as ‘Ansar’ is ‘helper’/‘supporter’ and ‘Allah’ is what their revolution supports - so ‘Supporters of Allah’ -> ‘Ansar Allah’ seems logical to me ?

I guess it depends whether you transcribe how it is spoken or how it is written, letter by letter.
Sometimes there is no single correct answer for how to transcribe something because of the inherent limitations of the Latin alphabet, for instance having only five main vowels (a, e, i, o, u) whereas many languages have more diverse vowel sounds, so you just pick the closest approximation or combination. But what do you do with vowel sounds that land pretty much exactly in between two of them? In those cases two different spellings can be equally correct and you just have some arbitrary convention on which one should be predominantly used.
Also, different regional Arabic dialects probably have different pronunciations too.
Yeah this is it. It happens with Hindi too especially since there isn’t an official romanisation for the language. Yiu will often find the same names spelt differently in English.
With Ansarallah I am guessing it’s fine however you write it, as long as it is in good faith and approximates the authentic pronunciation.

Yeah. This used to be the case with Chinese too where for example you had both Peking and Beijing as possible spellings. But fortunately nowadays, thanks to established convention, there is only the one “correct” romanization which makes things easier for learners.
I assume other versions are from the difficulty of putting something not in English into English, sometimes the sound doesn’t have an exact translation amd.they go for.somethign similar.
The question here is this propaganda aimed at discrediting them or lifting them up or it is just a translation issue?
I’m pretty sure the (“Houthi”) part is (part of) propaganda, so I would take their pronounciation of Ansarullah with a big grain of salt.
