The focus on discoverability is a very good decision imo, if we ever want the average person to be using FOSS Android apps and Google Play to have a stronger competition then the repository should be able to recommend apps to people who don’t know about them and aren’t nerds enough to go looking for alternatives when their adware from Google Play kinda gets the job done
If I’m reading this right, it is not available for everyone yet, correct?
Do people need to wait for it to be rolled out with an update, like the usual updates or will current F-droid users need to install the new version?
Does it do anything different with the incoming g∞gle dev registration requirement?
I had to manually upgrade it from the list of versions.
I swapped to Fdroid Basic where they’ve been trialling many of the UI changes, today I reinstalled the main fdroid app and 2.0 was the default option, so no I don’t believe theres any phased rollout.
If you’re currently using a pre-2.0 version, you’ll have to manually update the app, same as ever. From 2.0+ they default to auto-updating in the background.
I’m pretty pleased with the changes, especially search covering description etc and no longer just app names!
Oh so that’s why everything changed on the app lol
