Of course the Republicans don’t want the horrible shit they want to pass to effect the midterms.
And they don’t want to let a vote go to the floor about impeaching hegseth, because they would have to essentially vote up or down on the Iran war, and it’s very unpopular even in their core voting groups. That’s exactly why they went to recess early.
Delaying legislation until after the election is an admission that the party in charge knows their agenda is unpopular and intends to shove it down the public’s throat regardless.
Hey boss, I’m heading out until the middle of November. And when I return, if you haven’t expressed intent to replace me, I’ll get right to doing my job (questionably). But if you have replaced me then I’ll still collect a check through the end of the year.
They work something like 160 days a year. The rest of the time they are being wined and dined by various interest groups, taking vacations (oops I mean attending seminar), trading stocks, and raping interns.
Must be nice to work half as much as the proles for an easy six figures with the best health care on Earth and all of the lobster you can choke down.
