only one minor version away from the number
In sure the next version will be 7.0
It’s not mentioned specifically in the release notes, but they weren’t kidding about the RDP improvements. I can finally log in from windows.
edit: Spoke too soon. After the laptop woke up from sleep, I get only a black screen over RDP.
I’m impressed how often KDE releases
Kup, the KDE backup tool, has been polished up and is now released as a part of Plasma.
Neat!
My big ask for KDE is to kill this atrocity

The hamburger menu is bad. It’s really really really bad. It’s just the shithole features get thrown into, there’s really almost zero reason for Dolphin to have it.
What’s so bad about it? I don’t mind it. It’s better to have than not, KDE has always been about customization and options.
There’s basically zero thought put into it. It’s annoying to click, on sidebars it lives in a very weird place, and if you have a menu bar already then why do need the junk drawer hamburger menu?
To me it signifies that the application is under thought without a clear goal or vision.
But also, look at this screenshot from the system monitor:

It has both a hamburger and an ellipsis menu. What is that about? That’s in addition to the tools drop down.
To me, it’s just not cohesive. There’s not really any design intention behind it. It’s simply where features that don’t go elsewhere get put.
Edit" changed screenshot to an easier to see one
That’s definitely my biggest complaint after switching to KDE earlier this year. Overall, I love it. I’d recommend it for new users because it’s easy to understand. But their design philosophy is all over the place when it comes to settings. There’s a mixture of hamburger icons, cog icons, and Settings menus in the toolbar. Plus the confusion of mixing settings related to the desktop environment right next to the application settings.
It’s not great with core apps, and then the community doesn’t have clear guidelines to go off of when making their own apps.
Same here. Overall, it’s pretty good, I like it, I am impressed with their rate of improvement and progress.
For core apps I would love a rewrite of Dolphin. How does it not have Miller Columns? They’re amazing, super nice to work with. In theory tree view should do the same things, but it’s not as polished or clear. Apparently they felt the code as too complex, but I still feel it’s a travesty they don’t support them. Tree view is not equivalent.
I’d love something as Tablacus Explorer kind of multipanel approach: add one panel is just adding one plugin. You can have one to virtually infinite panels in any position you want. That’s better in my opinion, I love that kind of flexibility.
