Donald Trump is a “puppet” to psychopathic traits that are likely to become even more dangerous if Republicans suffer a bruising defeat in next month’s midterm elections, a leading clinical psychologist has warned.
Dr. Vincent Greenwood, director of the Washington Center for Cognitive Therapy, also believes the president’s danger is underestimated and warrants invoking the 25th Amendment.

Crazy how this gets more attention as the 2 year mark grows closer. Vance is creaming his pants about the 10 years of hell he has planned for women and minorities.
Vance worse then Trump
Need remove Vance first
100%. Ain’t happening though.
No one can do anything, and no one is willing to do anyhting.
I wouldn’t be that worried about Vance, it’s hard to find a less charismatic politician. Just a few days ago there was a grieving husband asking for some comfort and assurance that his wife didn’t die in vain in the Iran war, that something will be done to prevent it from happening to anyone else. It’s a real low hanging fruit for any politician. You just offer condolences, say you’ll look into this (Vance could even collect some credibility by saying this is one of the reasons why he didn’t want the war in Iran in the first place) and then thank them for their service (the husband was also in the military).
And it’s clear Vance has been politically trained because he understood what he was supposed to do, but the way he went about it… Oh boy, it hurt me to watch it so I can’t even imagine what the husband was feeling. Vance got the gist of what he was supposed to say but what came out could be summed up as “sorry your wife died bro, but this is the first time I’m hearing there are problems in the military” coated in the most HR speech you could have. And then he spent an uncomfortable amount time going into some really weird specifics about how they’re trying to prevent this from happening again but that ended up coming across as “your wife died in vain because we didn’t think before they got struck”. And he didn’t know when to end it. His own staff had to cut him off to get him out that low-hanging fruit he jury-rigged into a political mine that he threw himself onto. You could take a literal stranger from the street and there’s a high likelihood that stranger would’ve given a better answer than Vance.
And this is why I’m not worried. Because the republican party is held together by the only strength Trump has, his charm. Now before you’re going to say Trump can’t have any charm because he’s a deplorable rapist whose cognitive capacity is in the red, look at his voters. They’re morons. Trump literally said he could say the stupidest thing and they would cheer for him. And they cheered for that. His voters don’t know what he’s doing or saying or anything. All they see is how he present himself and he presents himself in a way where his voters think he knows what he’s doing. That’s the only thing keeping the party together and that requires a certain level of presence and charm. Vance has none of that. Trumpists won’t rally behind Vance because he looks like he enjoys getting cucked by his wife, he talks like he’s a liberal consultant and he has no spine when it comes to taking some accountability. In many ways he’s the very embodiment of the democrat politician every republican voter hates.
I don’t know what kind of a political brainwashing the republican party needs to do to get the republicans to support Vance. Or maybe they’ll just hollow out Vance and use him as a sock puppet because that would actually improve his charisma.
Man you could feel that dude’s grief and disappointment at the end. You’ll never find a yellow ribbon tied around my tree, but if you’re the vice president, and you have an interaction with someone grieving but you leave them feeling even more hopeless and discouraged, you do not possess the prerequisite amount of empathy to lead any nation. Especially a nuclear armed nation.
What an absolute skin suit that guy is.
Lulz - spot on
I don’t know what kind of a political brainwashing the republican party needs to do to get the republicans to support Vance.
I hope you’re right, but if the last 20ish years have taught me anything, it’s that no matter how dumb you think they are, you’re giving them too much credit.
The whole administration is illegitimate if we’re being honest, if biden wasn’t a traitor he would have found evidence even with a cursory glance.
At least Trump has the excuse that he doesn’t know any better. Vance grew up relying on social support programs and wants to take them away from other people
Then you get Rubio.
AckcHuAlLy then you get Johnson. Then Grassley. Then Rubio, Hegseth, Bessent, and Bondi.
Rubio is 4th in line. After the VP you get the Speaker, then President Pro Tem, and finally the Secs of State, Treasury, Defense, and the AG before going down the rest of the cabinet in establishment order.
If the Dems take back the house and senate, that puts the Republicans in a weird spot with regards to removing Trump for Vance because they would need to convince both houses of a Dem controlled congress to approve a new VP to fill the vacancy. They might cave - they have a habit of doing that - but I hope not. If they dont, then a Dem is in the line after Vance while the VP is vacant.
Lowkey anyone wonder if/when Usha and his “halfbreed” kids are going to disappear or how is that going to work?
Man Trevor Noah is right, racism is dumb AF.
Vance is not going to stay in power though. Unlike Trump he has no leverage via a dedicated cult following of voters. Vance is tolerated by the oligarchs because he got endorsed by Trump and Thiel, but the moment Trump is no more Vance loses all support from them. They will all have their own candidates to push, and it will be a bloodbath.
Yeah, somehow Trump has this irresistible magnetism for a lot of people. Vance has none of that. None of the presumptive heirs to the MAGA movement have a fraction of Trump’s charisma and they’ll all struggle to unite the various factions.
MAGA won’t die with Trump, by any means, but it will lose focus. Hopefully long enough for responsible people to clean up the mess he’s made.

The way to think about Trump is this: imagine it’s 1965 and you’re dealing with a rich horny 19 year old boy from NYC.
His entire frame of reference is that of himself at 19. He never grew up. When you look at him like that, all his antics, behavior, “reasoning” etc. make perfect sense.
19 is optimistic. He’s bragged about being basically the same now as he was in first grade.
He actually said himself that he hasn’t fundamentally changed since he was 6
Congress needs an Executive Babysitting Committee where they bring in Trump for questioning and answering to his administration’s crimes every day with a rotating inquisitor. That should occupy him enough to keep him from doing dumb shit because on the weekend he’ll only have energy to go golfing.
He’s not behind the dumb shit he’s doing now. He signs what’s put in front of him and those doing the putting won’t be distracted.
He is completely on board with it, even when he doesn’t understand it. Buck stops with him.
A proper cleanup will also dispense justice to all the enablers, but there’s no possible reason to let Trump off the hook.
He just wouldn’t show up and they would be too scared to drag him in
And when he refuses to attend?
Doesn’t matter to Republicans though – foreign (Xi, Bibi, Putin) and domestic (Musk, Thiel, etc.) – that just makes him easier to control.
This is all about every benefactor who contributed to Trump’s dodging of prison and reelection getting their payout in one form or another.
And why do blue-collar maga not care, you ask? Well decades of undermining education, increasing their work hours, distracting them with bullshit and sports and identity issues and drugs and the giant propaganda speakers of billions of dollars of money (again foreign and domestic) means it’s very… Very hard for these people to unplug themselves from The Matrix and to see reality for what it is. Trump said, “I love the poorly educated” and “Smart people don’t like me” for a reason of course.
Doesn’t matter to Republicans though – foreign (Xi, Bibi, Putin)
Please, for the love of God, just say “authoritarians” or something. It’s bad enough how much the two party system dominates American politics, culture, and ideology, but trying to impose those stupid categories all around the globe is just childish.
They did it that way because it’s a commentary on the oath as the Commander-in-Chief of the US armed forces to defend the US from enemies both foreign and domestic. They’re making a case that our President is in league with the enemy. He’s violating the oath to uphold the Constituion and do his job correctly.
Yes, they are authoritarian. That wasn’t the point of their post though, at least as I read it.
Then call them “enemies.”
“Republican” already has a meaning outside of the US, it refers to anti-monarchy movements, for example, the Irish Republican Army.
Netanyahu is part of the Likud Party, Putin is in United Russia, Xi is in the Communist Party of China. None of them are “foreign Republicans.” Each of those parties has it’s own beliefs and stances, emerging from the historical and cultural context of their respective countries. Imposing the shitty US-centered framework of politics is reductive, ignorant, lazy, and chauvanistic.
This article has been run every week for the last year.
We get it. He’s old and nutty.
Fucking vote. Get rid of him.
Why did I have to open an archive.ph link to access a Daily Beast article?
I mean, props for the archive link and being mindful of those who cannot bypass paywalls, etc. Thank you for the basic posting courtesy, and I mean that. But honestly the archive link belongs in the body, so that people like me who pay attention to sources can see before they click what they’re giving clicks to.
Keep in mind that anything coming out of the archive.today set of archive links is not just an archive, but is also behind what amounts to a link shortener.
Here’s the non-archive link for anyone who uses source as a criterion for choosing whether to read an article:
https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-80-is-psychotic-and-its-getting-worse-says-cognitive-doctor
Is this headline from 2016?
Not reading that. Daily Beat is a shitty shitty source.
I don’t disagree with this headline, but I was mainly opening article to see if they addressed the fact that doctors are bound not to diagnose without seeing the patient, so while it is probably true, it’s wrong of doctors to say. Btu seeing the source, no thanks.
Any article that mentions his age in the headline is clickbait bullshit and I ignore it immediately.
The 25th is a higher bar than impeachment, and neither the 25th nor impeachment is going to happen as long as the Republicans refuse to break ranks.
So we need to consider other approaches.
Then why is he still president? Shouldn’t there be a better system in place to make sure one of the most important jobs in the world is done by someone mentally competent?
Because random doctors don’t, and shouldn’t, have authority over the popular will (which our system treats our elections as representing). If people democratically elect someone, and any random psychiatrist can just declare that person mentally unfit, then you don’t have a democracy, you have an autocracy with government controlled by a cabal of psychiatrists. There is a mechanism to remove mentally unfit people from office, and it’s electing people who will vote to remove such a person from office. Or simply waiting and electing someone else.
This is part of why it’s a violation of medical ethics for doctors to make these kinds of assessments of public figures, as per the Goldwater Rule. It’s exploiting the public’s trust in the field to advance a political agenda. Psychiatrists have an ethical obligation to recurse themselves from these questions, or at least to make it clear they’re only offering a personal opinion and not a professional assessment.
It’s based solely on the republican primary which isn’t even a governmental event.
Yes. We know. This is old news. Let me know when something is fucking done about it.
Aye. We know.
All Republicans are opportunists who will gladly use this to their advantage.
It’ll be like Game of Thromes but with a superficilal veil of civility.
