Nope. Windows 2000 was.
I thought 2000 was the new version of NT which was more an enterprise, meant for offices with networks sort of thing. Even the wiki says so. Course many consumers used it but wasn’t directly intended for personal/home use, fairly certain most home PCs were sold with 98 till then but been a few years now too. Not that you couldn’t use it or many still offered it as a regular buy but not as many that had 98 installed.
XP was largely a reskinned 2000.
2000 introduced DirectX to NT.
The dirty secret of Windows is that it’s a business OS that you can play games on when the boss isn’t looking.
I mean, maybe it wasn’t a consumer OS in that the average Gateway PC never came with it. But there was no technical reason why it couldn’t have.
Yup I completely agree, but was mostly commenting on marketing/intended use.
While I never used 2000 for a personal install had read many comments around the time of gamers using it. Probably other people used it too but mostly I read gaming forums back then.
