There’s no way this comes as an actual surprise to anyone working at Boston Dynamics. What the fuck did they think the robots were being developed for?

If you take all the politics and context away, the robots are cool as hell, but it takes a special level of privilege to be able to do that in the current reality

I saw video of a humanoid robot from the Chinese competitor to Boston dynamics shown stopping and attacking a small car. it’s not even subtext, it’s just directly advertising to elites that were worried about controlling their paramilitary security force once SHTF

This is so common nowadays! It’s an attempt to retroactively justify their work as ethical; if they complain loudly now, a lot of mindless people will be like “well, at least they complained.”

Another recent famous example is the book Careless People that’s critical of Facebook’s culture. Everyone celebrated the criticism, conveniently ignoring that the author proudly worked for Facebook until she was fired in 2017.

They’re fine with a company influencing elections or making war dogs before, but gosh this is just too far!

The makers of creepy armed robots have pangs of guilt selling their shit to fascist paramilitaries now. That’s rich.

Also, if they had no trouble working for Boston Dynamics before, that should tell you just how bad ICE is.
