Back to work after two days off sick again. Dunno what this thing is but it’s hard to shake. Booked in for blood tests. I have recently started seeing a different doc due to the other one leaving. I’m booked in for blood tests. She said it’s fasting don’t forget. I checked how many hours I need to fast for because it’s impossible to get to my local place in a morning on a weekday. She reminded me that it’s 8 hours so I said great I’ll eat at 7 am and go on my way home. She said no in the morning. I explained that if I eat at 7 then 8 hours after that will be 3 pm. She looked amazed.
I actually got caught out a few years ago and learnt the hard way that you can fast for too long. I got to the place at about 10 am by which point too many hours had passed. The docs don’t tell you that. On my last one last year it stated on the script or referral that it was “non fasting”. I phoned up the place to check on that and of course it was fasting. I mean these are the people we trust our health and therefore lives with. It’s a worry at times.
Anyway whenever I have had bloods in the past they never seem to find anything that might be causing my illness, doesn’t hurt to get checked out on occasion though.
Oh and thanks to TRK’s rec I watched “Heads of State” and can confirm that it’s a very jolly romp. Most enjoyable. Not too cheesy and lots of action.
Cheers.

It’s because your blood sugar spikes isnt it? The last time I went to the doctor (many years…) they suggested a blood test cause I hadn’t done one in over a decade and reminded me multiple times not to fast too long or you’ll get false positives for high blood sugar. Jokes on them, I still haven’t done it. Possibly I should at some point but its like texting someone back after you forgot to reply. It’s been another few years since my last visit so its kinda embarrassingly too long to follow up.

Wait, I thought I watched it because of your recommendation! Damn, who was that who suggested it originally then??
Dunno but we shall hunt them down and destroy th…ok ok we won’t destroy them then. But no it wasn’t me.
Also. Mate we all should get bloods done every year. A workmate put me onto that about 12 years ago. He books in for every Melbourne cup day ( so he remembers )
That way they can see if any levels are changing which could indicate a problem. The big one is that if certain things or thing changes it might be due to cancer. Then they can look into things early.
We take our health for granted, especially when young and healthy. It sometimes doesn’t take much for things to go pearshaped.
Get yah bloods done mate.
