    The red ones especially are very pretty. I thought it would stick out more, but it’s well camouflaged.

      I felt the same way. We don’t think of some of the colors would blend in as well as they do, but they’ve had a very long time to trial and error what color to be and what they blend in with.

      Owls with great ranges are exciting to look at to see how they vary within the same species. Barn Owls, Great Horns, Short Eared, Tawnies, and Long Ears come to mind. It’s taken quite a bit of time, but it’s fun for me to try to guess where they’re at based on their distinct colors.
