Green and yellow are easy but purple is only true for Americans, and the last blue? Come on.

I knew I wasn’t seeing the categories but I had fun trying anyway.

    Spoiler

Things you can bake: Apple, cookie, ziti (pasta), and, um, easy

Related to money and homophones of money: geo cache, cookie cache, apple pay, and heh easy money

These categories sound ridiculous but then I picture a class of kindergartners reciting "a is for apple, c is for cookie, e is for effort, and v is for vendetta! screeching halt sound effect Wait, what? What happened to van, or vet, or vase? Also, eggs and elephants would like a word.

Z is pronounced zed in huge swathes of the English speaking world, just saying.

Finally, in my defense on my first mistake, apple is also a tree. (OK fine, that one was my fault for skimming too fast.)

      oops spoiler

I believe they meant the movie, V for Vendetta. And E for effort is probably the grade?

Ah. Never heard of the movie. The grade is hilarious, never heard that before either. Thanks.

C is for cookie is apparently from Sesame Street, which I didn’t grow up with (not American). Soooo, I’m blaming my upbringing for my failure 😉

          Spoiler

I don’t think the effort one is meaning E for effort, instead its probably going for the phrase ‘A for effort’, meaning I’d give you an A grade for trying even if it wasn’t successful

            Spoiler

I can assure you that the phrase “E for effort” exists. Some people use the “A for effort” variant, but I’m fairly certain that the “E” version is the older one.

I just disagree with both blue and purple. I knew and thought of just the last one of blues. None of the others make any sense.
    P. S.:
Read some comments, there’s a method to this group.

And purple, come on… Is that an American thing? Never heard of the first word being “used” like that and then multiple instances of the other one… Who says that?

Both the concept and the execution of the purple group makes me angry. Mostly because it feels somewhat artificial and arbitrary (I know they all are, this one feels like that).

Yellow and green were too easy, and I couldn’t see purple or blue at first.

Got hasty with apple there. Purple, sure, no problem. Blue: maybe if they were all Sue Grafton titles or something.
