While it’s not going to be much solace, I’m fairly sure Dessau-Roßlau is the demographically oldest district in all of Germany. So if the youths there are being undesirables, at least there’s not going to be a lot of them.
Yeah… that sounded better in my head.

It’s a feedback loop, too. Part of the reason that many places in eastern Germany are so old is that the youth is leaving for places that aren’t completely overun with people who are voting for rightwing parties. Old people might not beat you to death like young fascists, but most of them aren’t voting for any parties that are seriously trying to stop the fascists, either.

So why does it happen here worse and more often than other places? Germany is sick, and Germans are sick.

Fuck off with this nationalist essentialism. Germans are products of a lifetime of experiences, just like every other human being on the planet. There’s not some magic portal to the fascist plane seeping dark energy under Berlin.

It doesn’t actually happen more often in Germany, though. Fascism was pioneered by Italy, and in more recent history there are several rightwing dictatorships in Europe that existed since at least 10 years ago. Fascists came into power in the USA just this year. Several of the more prosperous European countries either already have a far right government (Italy) or have a very sizable far right opposition.

You should really learn History beyond your belly button.

Lots of fascist regimes throughout History and pretty much worldwide.

But Germany is one of the only countries to actually pay for it and go through a very long mea culpa, which is incidentally the reason why they side with Israel on this one.
