I am currently watching Foundation season 3, which is still great, especially the whole empire story line and particularly Lee Pace (as always).
Also watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds. Solid, but imo there are to many special format episodes. Not that I don’t like those in general, but with seasons not being 20+ episodes long like in the past there is just not enough “normal” content for the right balance.
I finally found time this week to finish up season 2 of The Sandman. As a long time fan of the books I’m in awe that everything was able to be wrapped up in just two seasons. Tom Sturridge was born to play Morpheus, and now I’m just sitting here on the couch melancholic now that the story is over.
Highly recommend this show, especially if you grew up reading the books!
Agreed great show and I wish we would have gotten more, but I am very glad they managed to wrap everything up nicely. Imo the biggest weakness of this season was Lyta Halls (played by Razane Jammal) performance and her motivation for what she does.
I agree that her motivation felt a bit rushed. The episodes were already going long, so I suspect those scenes are somewhere on the cutting room floor.
Resident Alien - I was really worried when with only a few episodes to the season finale I heard it was cancelled, but it was a rather satisfying conclusion to the series all things considered.
I’m gonna miss this show, but I’m glad we got 4 wonderful seasons.
Ongoing Shows:
- Department Q: I jut finished the fourth episode and the show is getting better and better.
- Smoke: I just finished the second episode and I just don’t love this show. The reason I don’t love it was the end of E2 had a big reveal that was pretty much a forgone conclusion, given the subject matter of the show.
- Dope Girls: Wow this show just gets better and better and if you aren’t watching it, please do. It is great.
- Andor: Tonight will be be episode 7. What is there to say. It is spectacular and the best Star Wars product made in the last 45 years.
- A Thousand Blows: Tonight will be episode 2 and hopefully it will maintain the same level of excellence of the premiere.
New Additions:
I watched a few episodes of this ‘“docuseries” this past weekend. Each episode puts you the viewer in the middle of various natural disasters by showing cellphone and CCTV that have different camera angles of the same disaster. It is a wild ride if you are into disasters.
Amy Bradley is Missing:
This docusries is about a women who went missing off a cruise ship, while on vacation with her family. She and her brother partied late into the night, as you are supposed to do on a cruise, they came back to their room. At 6am, her father wakes up and sees her sitting on the patio/deck of their room, he goes and gets coffee returns to the room and never saw her again.
Her family has been searching for Amy for decades and there have been numerous sightings of her ever since.
I remember when she went missing in the 90s. It is a heart breaking story, and this doc does a good job exploring it.
It’s new South Park and new IASIP day!
We’re kinda in an adult anime series binge this week:
-
Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales - watching primarily for the introduction of the Medicine Seller character who is the primary protagonist for Mononoke.
-
Mononoke
-
Berserk
Outside of that, I’m looking forward to Alien: Earth tomorrow!
-
Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, exclusively because Billy Zane is amazing as
Nyarlathotepthe Collector. There are other characters too and there’s a plot somewhere.Tap for spoiler
Shock and horror as the long line of white(ish) male demon knights is broken by a black woman receiving the macguffin in the end.
