I’ve always liked Moebius. I remember reading the World of Edena in college. It totally broke my mind.

Such an incredible artist. I pine for the version of Dune he was working on with Jodorowsky. The only bright side of that movie never happening is they made The Incal instead.

If i had ridiculous amounts of money I would totally fund and produce an animated Dune series in the style of Moebius and Jorodowsky. And I would do all the books up until Chapterhouse just for the trippy animation. I don’t care that the story gets unhinged after Children of Dune.

Might be on your radar already, but the recent animated series Scavenger’s Reign has heavy Moebius influences in the backgrounds and world building

Yes! Hire the people who made Scavengers Reign to do it! Also, of course all the books including Chapter house! I want to see a young Miles Teg riding into battle on Streggi´s shoulders, Placido Salat frowning over the possibility of the butter getting too hot in the oyster stew and lets not forget the action scenes of Honored Matres martial arts!

Haha, the only reason that I’m not completely blown away by this quality share is that my pal Nacktmull is something of a specialist at this stuff, and heavily contributed to our sub across our nearly 2-yr history on Lemm.ee, before that instance eventually shut down recently, whereafter we relaunched here. (and I miss my pal and his ‘Moeby’ shares)

But yeah-- thank you kindly for that! <3

Now, in terms of ‘surrealism,’ that word can of course mean many things (due to its very nature I suppose!), but with Jean Giraud specifically, what I loved as an eternal fanboy (don’t say “otoku,” goldaggit!) is that he could & would combine outrageous, surreal, fantasy concepts with tightly-drawn, even exactingily, lovingly pen-hatched visuals(!)

Perhaps not unlike the absolutely towering genius of the States’ Richard Corben, whose paw-prints are all over all kinds of significant projects, like the Heavy Metal film media.

But also, and yet… I find there’s a ‘lightness and darkness’ aspect/divide upon these two incredible masters, almost like Robert E. Howard examples versus… huh. How’bout… oh, what the hell: Miyazaki himself?! (bumblingly introducing yet a 4th towering master, just to turn the whole discussion in to complete, disintegrating chaos, lol)

Bah… now are those some good or bad analogies?! oO

Sable is a game very much in the style of Moebius. I haven’t beaten it because the framerate gives me a headache but every frame looks good.
