Not a bad faith take, and I disagree that the movie has anything like that. Sure there are events that stand out as significant, and one of them stands out as most significant, but I really don’t think it stands out in a bad or offensive way unless you just don’t like that sometimes sad things happen in movies. But maybe we’re not talking about the same thing. I have no way of knowing.
It think the disconnect here is what we consider “sad”. To me that event was “horrific” or “disturbing” and left a lasting and negative impression. To me that wasn’t a “eh whatever, it’s sad but shit happens” situation.
