I could practically feel the warm summer evening air on my skin when I took this shot- the sense of realism you get from the nature in this game is something else. Thank you crunching Rockstar devs who never got to see your children for your sacrifice

Also this shit came out on the PS4, further proof that we didn’t need this newest console generation or these past few batches of overpriced GPUs that catch on fire and need additional support inside the case because they draw so much power and have bloated to such monstrous sizes

Once I have a better pc im thinking of putting survival mods and playing it like a sandbox, the linearity of the history vs the open world didnt make much sense to me

my favorite detail of the game that i’ve seen basically no one talk about is that every single page of arthur’s journal is handwritten by someone, in a quite consistent and uncommon font. if you look carefully, you’ll notice that no appearance of any particular letter is ever quite the same.

When Arthur got the you know what, I took a break from the story and just wandered the map letting the dude vacation across the country, looking at all the odd landmarks and sketching them down, helping strangers, hunting down klansmen, fish for sport, etc. Just to let the poor guy have a taste of a life free from the old life he knew before the final ride. I enjoyed helping him fill his journal with drawings of everything he saw, the land and the animals that lived on it. Filled the damn thing up so much there wasn’t anything John could put in except for the areas of New Austin and West Elizabeth.

  • the canon outfit is flat cap, canvas vest over simple white shirt, red bandana.

I kidnapped and murdered a lot of overseers and gun thugs around the mining camp in the Appalachian area.

the visuals are insane, but I also dug how hostile the “lawmen” would be if you just stare at them, with no weapons out or anything… just locked on them. don’t hit the “antagonize” or “defuse” option.

the shit they say is infuriating, just like a real cop. the amount of times it pushed me to violence just on principle is not zero.

I took so many screenshots and just enjoyed trotting around looking at the nature haha. When it first came out the local news showed a screenshot on the broadcast when someone submitted it saying it was a sunset in their backyard

I would be happy if visuals in games just stopped here, this game and the oblivion remaster have passed the eye test multiple times on tricking me into thinking they are real.

Hardware above a ps4 / around a ps5 level is very available too, even with current prices. Incremental gains are becoming less and less, a decent pc now should last 5+ years.

One of the most incredible moments I have experienced from any art form is approaching the Rio Bravo as you’re going into Mexico in Red Dead Redemption on the Ps3.

Does it compare to that scene?

Rockstar makes amazing sandboxes but all of their missions are incredibly strictly scripted and choreographed and allow no creativity from the player, failing them instantly when they go off script

they were better about it 20 years ago. although it’s weird they had lost the “drive a cab and pick up the guy you’re supposed to tail” gimmick already between gta 3 and san andreas.
