I’m in an elevated house and felt it, but mistook it for someone jumping up and down on our back deck

It woke me up, but tbh I wasn’t even certain that’s what it was. If I had been wide awake I probably wouldn’t have doubted it, and same if it had woken me up but I lived somewhere that experiencing earthquakes isn’t super unusual.

But the combination of drowsiness, unexpectedness, and how relatively minor the earthquake is meant I doubted it. Doesn’t help that there’s a noisy park nearby, and major construction works going on too.

The second one that I’ve ever felt. I was sat down and actually thought that a washing machine was going mental. But hey the machine here is downstairs on concrete.

But also where I’m currently living has a deck that the owner has been working on. I hadn’t noticed him leave the living room but that must be it I decided.

Then I saw on the local FB page about it, and also the owner was still sat on the lounge. He didn’t feel a thing, I felt it immensely. Another mate a few ks away didn’t feel it but his neighbours came out of the house.

I have a friend up in Torbenlea near Hervey Bay and they lost power. I wonder if much damage has occurred ?

I live in a 6 pack style build, and def felt it, was still waking up and wasn’t sure what the hell was going on! Lucky it wasn’t centred on the CBD!
