A slight correction: lemmy.ml isn’t “the worst piefed community”, but rather a whole entire Lemmy instance, which itself hosts many communities, while instance-wide banning anyone who does not support Russia, China, or North Korea hard enough. All major nations these days seem to be actively supporting genocide, yet if you go there, you are left with the impression that those nations never do anything wrong, while it is the big evil USA and the EU and such that are the bad guys.
For example, this image just before the USA election, portraying how people should not vote for Biden/Harris bc bOtH sIdEs SaMe:
Thank, that was a huge mistake, sorry. i wrote to fast. I corrected it.
Yep, those meme sent during a crucial event are vote manipulation. Far right movement use those tactic. I received meme during the french senate election. Come back to facebook, animated a page against far right movement. Horrible. I had to deactivate pictures and memes.
I prefer talking about another lighter topic. :)
Yes, absolutely. Though when we invite people here, and they browse “Lemmy” (which Google told them meant lemmy.ml) by Local rather than All, then you get the impression that “Lemmy” is a bunch of tankie trolls. And by that metric, it is!? Especially when you dig deeper and see lemmygrad.ml and Hexbear.net doing similar if not worse.
We may prefer quieter browsing, but we should be mindful of the experiences that others have, when they come to check out “Lemmy”. The likes of e.g. Discuss.Online and Lemmy.World are extremely different from lemmy.ml. But people won’t know that. And when the write their stories on r/RedditAlternatives, they don’t understand so they aren’t able to distinguish between those.
Hence, if we fail, it will be because we are a Nazi bar. We need to do better.
And we are doing better, on PieFed, on Mbin, and on many Lemmy instances. We are building that better world that we want to see!:-)
