Karl Marx, born on this day in 1818, was a foundational political theorist and journalist associated with the philosophy of Marxism.

Among Marx’s best-known texts are the “The Communist Manifesto” and the three-volume “Das Kapital”, in which he set out to define and explain the behavior of the capitalist mode of production.

Marx’s political and philosophical thought have had enormous influence on subsequent intellectual, economic and political history, and his name has been used as an adjective, a noun, and a school of social theory.

Marx’s critical theories about society, economics and politics - collectively understood as Marxism - hold that human societies develop through class conflict. In capitalism, this manifests itself in the conflict between the ruling classes (known as the bourgeoisie) that control the means of production, and the working classes (known as the proletariat) that enable these means by selling their labor power in return for wages.

Employing a critical approach known as historical materialism, Marx concluded that, like previous socio-economic systems, capitalism produced internal tensions which would lead to its self-destruction and replacement by a new system known as socialism.

Hell yeah, who do you play? I don’t play any of the newer Street Fighters but I love the series

Two of my greatest accomplishments in my life, probably:

      • Beating a middle school/highschool aged boy at Tekken when I was like 8. He got super mad and stormed off, I then felt bad and looked for him to tell him he could take over my game which would’ve been so much more humiliating lol

      • Beating someone who was obviously an arcade rat at Street Fighter 3rd Strike when I’d only really been playing it on PlayStation

In hindsight the first instance was soooooo satisying. Just innocent tiny me minding my own business while this kid comes up and challenges me thinking he was gonna WRECK me. Not that day

          Welcome to grappler main thought.

You have a big setplay combo you have been labbing out? Well, let’s play 50/50 and see who spins to win.

lmao nice, I think I had the opposite thing as the second one happen to me at a Gamestop once, I was playing Tekken 5 or something when it came out, just hanging out there all day bodying randos, and then someone who actually knew how to play beat my ass and I got very sad. This is my first Street Fighter game though, and first fighting game I’ve ever taken “seriously”

I play Rashid, though I think Elena looks really fun and I like her positive vibes, so I’m gonna really try her out when she releases in a month.

I mean at least you were undefeated all day though, that counts for something! Haha.

I’m old so I keep referencing Third Strike because it was my fave besides the SNES games, but I think Elena made her debut in that one and she was super fun to play! Pretty fast with super fluid movements because of the Capoeira style.
