Cheap drones, sometimes costing just hundreds of dollars, have been used to destroy tanks in Ukraine worth millions.

Can’t wait for the day that drones are given an AI that turns the world into the sci-fi horror movie Screamers.

Ukraine is already using some vission “AI” targeting on drones to work around jamming, I’m sure Russia is probably doing the same or plans to if they can get the hardware.

Plus Palestine already is a horror movie, I’m sure Israel is using a lot of “AI” tech

Are they so obvious in the US? In Germany they normally just start to invite them to give a few dozen 10 minute presentations and pay them 10,0000 to 50,000€ per presentation.

“We are the wealthiest nation, perhaps in the history of the world, but even we can’t sustain a couple-million-dollar piece of equipment that can be taken out with an $800 drone and munition,” he said.

I thought that was the entire fucking point of the world spanning empire. That’s why there’s poverty, hunger, and homeless that exists in the world - so you could sustain multiple millions on every frivolous last bit of killing people for sport and looting. A trillion dollars can either kill a million Iraqis or, I imagine, house, feed, and dignify every person so far.

the humble infantryperson again becomes ascendant. drones are less the new machine gun as the new Pike & Shot. it adds an entire new dimension to infantry power. Instead of an impenetrable wall of pikes and high velocity slugs, you get pocket local air dominance. basically making close air support pointless and heavy vehicles a waste

so this is how we’re going to get bionics, partner robots, and like combat exoskeleton suits isnt it?

or… here me out. warfare is going to be tinier and on smaller scales, like tiny microcosms at the squad level of what used to be tactical combat (armor, air, intelligence dominance). like happening between two squads. the drones are going to get smaller and the projectiles more smart

The miniaturization of warfare is upon us.

According to experts, [who?] World War III will be fought on the head of a pin. [citation needed]
