The premise is that he needs to solve some sort of problem for them that changes the course of history before he is able to leap to someone else, in the hope that he changes enough to one day “leap home.”

It’s good tv, even now. Hokey at times, but in a largely good way.
One of the main characters is written as sexist in a stupid way, but it was done intentionally so the show could work into his character development.
