I’m not sure about the exact situation in the UK but here in Germany the Bundeswehr is responsible for defending their locations in the borders of these installation. Outside it’s the polices job. So effectively if a drone crosses from the military into the civilian zone the military is not allowed to pursuit.
It’s the same general principle here, yeah. Domestic law enforcement is the police’s job, the military can’t just start shooting at whatever it likes without asking
