    • One is a war and the other is an invasion
    • One is annexation and the other is changing the map
    • One is an occupation and the other is military presence
    • One is ethnic cleansing and the other is “cleansing the land of terrorism”
    • One is a regime and the other is a government
    • One is an oligarchy and the other is a democracy

The words change yet they all mean the same

Remember when western media ridiculed Putin for referring to the invasion as a “military operation” and then used that exact same phrase about what Israel were doing in Gaza?

Can you link the original articles?

It’s possible “change the map” means different here, often times that phrase is used to indicate a change of status quo rather than a literal “redrawing of the map”

I just googled the article: the Gaza article is literally about changing of the status quo of daily life, and mentions the annexation. The article is about change in life, redrawing the map is used as a euphemism for that. The phrase is being used as a literal “this place is changed” (though, again to be fair … it has changed because of the gross and illegal annexation/genocide)

I agree though, the way language is used has meaning and impact, but the story used euphemism for a story about humanity.

Idk if this is quite the cut and dry comparison it seems

The point of comparison still stands. Land Israel has no right to is being controlled by their military and then seized, broken up with checkpoints, “restricted”, by these y’all queda type settlers.

Economic apartheid to make it as much of a pain in the ass as possible to live independently from Israel .
