I hate meta as much as the next guy, but according to this they are the #3 organization in terms of kernel contributions, behind only Intel and Red Hat…

Do they contribute the same way as Google? Maliciously making bug reports found by an AI?

According to your link they’re 3rd overall, and 3rd in Reviews of Commit, every other metric available they’re best 5th, and not even in the top 10. Would be nice to see a more granular data set.

You were @bus_factor@lemmy.world’s “next guy”, but who will be your “next guy”?

I hate Facebook as much as the next guy, but they did create React, as well as some other contributions.

Contribution is a strong word for React, I prefer “eternal damnation”, as in Meta has eternally damned us all to use the abominable React.

And have undeniably driven VR forward.

You can hate em for keeping it closed/walled Garden, but I don’t think you would have a device like the Q3 without em
