Nah, shit like that is still popular on tiktok. Humans have been enjoying watching other humans hurt themselves for like the entirety of written history.
Tiktok has something a movie like this doesn’t: Catering to the attention span of a fish. Long-form content will fail to capture people that find DikDok appealing.
Thank you for the distinction; I’m just chatting as well.
That’s definitely a fair take. I think Jackass kinda sorta caters to it since a lot of their stunts are fairly short. They might even format it to be closer to the short form video that TikTok/Instagram uses. They were popular back when Vine was a thing, so who knows.
But, I look forward to being wrong too. I personally don’t find any humor in that kind of content anymore.
that explains why they made the previous ones. If you’ve ever seen interviews with Knoxville after one of the previous films came out, he speaks increasingly of how they get injured worse making each film, and that getting older is making recovery progressively more difficult.
Knoxville, et al. are in their 50s-- and their bodies have already spent decades being smashed around. I can’t imagine why they would want to make another one now.
But… Why?
My first instinct was to utter these words.
Who’s the demographic for this?
I am anoffice worker in my 30s, the fourth was brilliant and the cast are always fun
Brilliant? Haha. How?
This response tickles me.
I found it to be brilliant
Lol.
Watching people injure themselves never stopped being a popular form of entertainment.
The people that liked Jackass are now old as fuck and will find it silly. The youngsters will probably find this movie cringy as fuck.

I swear I’m not arguing. Just chatting.

Maybe its popularity will be how easily it can be chopped up and fed to the DikDok algorithm.
That would be interesting if they tried and pulled it off.
Unfortunately, I worry that idea might gain more traction in popular media if successful.
That’s why 3 Stooges is still funny and Looney Tunes.
My $9.99/month gym has the TVs set to people doing weird and stupid shit and everybody is staring at them all the time.
Better than mine where the old fucker behind the desk has Fox News stupefying the population as they pedal their stationary bikes.
They’re cheep to make and always turn a profit?
Plus it does seem like the guys genuinely have fun making them.

I sent in a formal request.
You bastard!
The fourth was incredible?
