It’s not often that I’m genuinely shocked by political news, but this has done it for me.

    Ukip are still around?!

Seriously, why do they exist? The whole point of the party was to get the UK to leave the EU, and that’s happened. Reform is the new UKIP.

    On the one hand :

“an Iron Cross in isolation (i.e., without a superimposed swastika or without other accompanying hate symbols) cannot be determined to be a hate symbol”

On the other hand, yeah, farage and the other fascists are looking to re-use fascist symbols. I’m surprised he didn’t just bring back the fucking BUF lightning bolt

A cross pateé in most contexts doesn’t seem nazi, but in politics it definitely does

Such British “patriots” that they resort to dog whistling German symbolism.

Well, at least they’re being open and honest about their true colours now. The “centrist moderates” who can’t seem to tell the difference between any parties and flip flop between whoever has control over their Instagram/TikTok algorithm of the day, might finally realise who they’ve been supporting.

The original version was rejected, but they’ve submitted a new and nearly identical application that hasn’t gotten a decision yet. The first one had a sword crossed with the spear

You’d think the UK would be better at beating Nazis given historical precedent and all

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don’t post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
