A slow start.
I’m not sold on either the OP or ED songs.
The OP is wonderfully animated.
I have faith that things will get moving though.
This felt like a return to form to me; much more like the first half of season 1 than the second half. I wonder how long they can keep this up; I read the manga but that was ages ago and I genuinely can’t remember.
I hope it wasn’t too dark and scary in that bush.

Fern seems to enjoy doing Frieren’s hair. She likes taking care of Frieren, doesn’t she?

It was nice seeing two “old” men, even if one of them appeared only for two seconds as a ghost.

Welp, peak is back. Best episode-1 production value of the season.
Banner nomination: something for the feet guy

Still not beating the ecchi anime allegations 😆
Done!
As beautiful as the day I lost her.

Also I want now a crossover episode with RuriRocks in that cave.
Frieren Friday is here! Too bad I have to wait until after work to watch.
We’re watching with co-workers in the cafeteria! Nobody will notice a 20 minute break… Hopefully 🤞
I’m not sure if I forgot just how insanely beautiful the season 1 was or did they make season 2 even more incredible but I think I’m still processing every detail, just perfect animations…
Damn those crystals are so OP. You could send Stark alone to sell some of them!
Stark you missed your chance to get a little bit spoiled by Fern! What a waste!
Adventuring like this is so nice. I’ve been on a 3 week holiday on a similar trip and I really wish I could travel like this for a year or so.
IMO they should give another reason for not selling those crystals, for example not wanting something so dangerous to mages out in the market. It doesn’t make sense when they were short on cash and not make use of the solution lying right on the ground.
I think not wanting to travel with a crystal that nullifies your magic until you find a buyer who knows when or where is a pretty fair reason by itself tbh.
I imagine it’s something that could fetch a high price to the right buyer, but actually finding that buyer might not be trivial. How long would they be carrying around their own Kryptonite before they can pawn it off?
Also, one detail that did stand out to me here is the way Frieren seems a lot more casual about it, as someone with a much more academic interest in magic she views it as another novelty. But Fern seems a lot more genuinely terrified, as someone who feels like she needs magic to survive. She’s trembling when she can’t detect mana in the cave, and when Stark grabs her she starts fidgeting with her bracelet to try and calm her nerves.
And honestly, Fern being afraid is a good enough reason for Frieren and Stark not to push the matter any further.
@hypertown I thought the same about sending Start to town. Too easy I guess 😂
Peak, as expected.
I feel like the cave of mana-suppressing crystals could’ve been an arc unto itself. We just came off of an arc where Stark had to be sidelined, and in general we really haven’t seen all that much of a physical class’s role.
Loved the ED. I’m always a sucker for more doodle-y animation.
Did anyone else notice that Stark left his axe behind when he pulled Fern and Frieren out of the cave?
I thought the same thing! I just knew they were going to have to go back in, but I was apparently focused on the wrong details
I loved it. Good first episode. The first season was already beautiful, but I’m glad they keep it up.
The crystals were a fun way to highlight the character of everyone in the party: they want money to survive, not to get rich; Stark is not afraid to admit he’s afraid; as silent as Fern might be, she’s simply that sort of “deep waters are still” person; and Frieren being… well, clueless on social relationships, but slowly getting better.
@lvxferre I noticed the same thing, the animation quality has not changed. Beautiful and smooth.

My owner is a bad owner and forgot to add that before I made my post. It should be included automatically from episode 2+.
This was all I ever wanted ;_; So happy to have them back. I also noticed that almost if not everything of the trailer was just from that episode! Someone know if it’s now official that the season is 10 episodes long?
seems to be just as good as season 1. the op is also pretty based
