Can you let me have one nice thing? Like just one, for longer than thirty minutes? Jesus Christ dude, things are bad enough already, you don’t need to stomp on my one flicker of brightness to remind me how bad they are.

Imagine coming into a trans community to take a dump on trans people celebrating that the boot on their neck is pressing down slightly less today. Wild behavior.

That wasn’t my point and I apologize deeply and honestly…I’m afraid for what ice is going to do and fear their budget will empower them to be horrible… please stay safe and let me know how I can help

          Clearly I fucked up…

A lot of trans people are afraid of ICE as well, and are extra vulnerable to violence while and after being arrested: just last week a trans man lost an eye after being shot by ‘less lethal’ weapons for protesting ICE.

We just have to also be able to celebrate what little good news we have, because nothing but bad news will drive you insane. Breathing a sigh of relief over our medical access being safe for now doesn’t mean we aren’t also worried about ICE, there’s just a lot of shit going on.

Sorry if my initial response was too harsh, I see now that you weren’t trying to be rude or dismissive. I don’t think you necessarily ‘need’ to do anything other than remember that most trans people probably feel identically as you do about the political situation, we just also have our own concerns and vulnerabilities on top of that, and focusing on those doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten the other issues.

It’s all good, I understand the reaction, cause I definitely sound like a doomy bitch ass. …

But as far as I’m concerned… we’re at the “First they came for” stage and that means we’re all in this together or we’re all fucked.

I’m not going to pretend I understand the trial and tribulations of being Trans at all, but I know we are all human first and foremost and all of us deserve a free life. If we don’t work together we all lose.

Please be safe and know there are a lot of us that might not understand but will stand with you and defend your rights along with mine and the rest of us. I’ll be goddamned if some bigot is going to attack the folks that I love with out push back.

Except the fuckin Nazis that want this, they deserve as much compassion as they give.

As amendment after amendment fell away, those wins grew more substantial, including the removal of a proposed ban on gender-affirming medical care from the NDAA—even after it had passed both the House and Senate.

    what changed their minds?

I’ve decided I like “controlled opposition” better than no opposition. Let’s make the controlled opposition bigger.
