    Oral birth control can have interactions with other medications, and can have side effects. It’s good to have it vetted through a doctor and pharmacist. Also, by putting various birth control under medical/pharmacist control, it’s easier to get it covered by health plans - yes, there are more ideal ways to deal with this, but sometimes we gotta work with what we got.

      Fine, then give every trained licensed pharmacist authorization to prescribe and a requirement to prescribe upon request, barring adverse interactions.

      You should be able to walk up to the counter and say I want some, and walk out 5 minutes later after the pharmacist double checks against any other meds you’re on.

        Yes, that could work. And I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s coming. They’re slowly giving more authority to pharmacists as family doctors are scarce and the lobbiests for Shoppers and the like do their thing.
